From the bottom of my heart mind
Fresh stories from a Spanish Copywriter.
In 2020, I had a clear goal on my head: be a great copywriter. I really pushed for it. I’d wake up early to study the classic American copywriters, writing by hand some of their best headlines and sales letters.
I bought a lot of different online courses and materials, read a lot of newsletters (both in Spanish and in English).
I spent a lot of time working for my clients and even started my own daily newsletter. I got good at it. Really good at it.
In one year I went from copywriter to the lead copywriter in the agency I was working, leading a team of 11 person and running my own projects. I also got a job as a mentor for new copywriters in an online school.
I even created my first (and only) email marketing online course, “Email Marketing Warrriors”.
Over that time, I wrote A LOT. For me, for my clients, for my courses. I got better because 1. I read a lot and 2. I wrote a lot.
But I also lost a lot of time (and money) studying things that I didn’t need at that time. How to scale my business, how to launch new services, technica things…
I’d just say “Well, just in case” and get into another course. Then I realized about my mistake: I was just doing for the sake of doing, not for a real future application.
So now I keep writing a lot, but just train/study for things (work related) that I’ll need in my immediate future.
For example, I have a course about how to write and market a book. I’m not planning to start writing it (for now), so the course is there and I won’t touch it until I really need it.

Resources to reach your peak level.
💡I did the same with Notion: spent a lot of time learning how it worked and then I just used it for couple of months. But if you want to know how they work on localization, enjoy this article.
