From the bottom of my heart mind
Fresh stories from a Spanish Copywriter.
I’m moving to a new apartment here in Valencia. The flat is empty at the moment, so I have to get furniture, home appliances and a lot of stuff… plus all the cleaning, painting and electricity part.
Tons of things.
I already have wifi there and today I’m getting the bed and the fridge, so will be able to make a decent living while I get the rest of the things.
So I’m getting help: Instagram is showing me the best set ups, friends recommend me the best TVs (I had no idea there are so many options) and my mum is helping me to don’t get lost in Ikea.
Same goes for your daily work… and yes, robots should be our friends here. I’m talking about Google, DeepL, ChatGPT and so on. Of course they are not gonna do your job (I’m the one going to Ikea, buying the TV and set up the furniture), but they are a great help.
How do I do it?
For Google, I basically spend my whole day there. I use Gmail as my own CMS (I can talk more about it in the future), Google Drive keeps all my documents and invoices in one place and Google Calendar is responsible to make me attend any meeting I may have.
For DeepL, sometimes I have translations that are not 100% my expertise, so is good to get a broad idea. Same if the source language is not English, is great to get a sense of what it needs to be localize.
ChatGPT is more about inspiration and getting ideas for new angles, campaigns or articles. I just use it in a very first stage (and the free version), but might be worthy to look at it more deeply.
As I said at the beginning these are just friends. They won’t do your job (and for sure, won’t do it right), so use them wisely.
Market-in
Resources to reach your peak level.
💡I’m finding more and more jobs opportunities as localization managers, very specific. It’s interesting as is a relative new job position and is picking up lately.
Outside the desk
Where the magic really happens.
🛍️ Ikea, MediaMarkt, Wallapop, more Ikea, Carrefour, some local stores… that’s my week and probably the next one.
🔥 But also is “Fallas”, the biggest festivity in Valencia and that time of the year when the city enter into a “chaos mode”.
✈️ And in the middle of this chaos, I bought a plane ticket for my next destination: the Basque Country, in the north of Spain.
Make it global, baby
