Back to the start, I was (and still am) very passionate about books. My parents had a stationary and I would go with my mum to the distributor and discover thousands of books. I was that kind of kids with a hidden flashlight under the pillow to read at night. And would read my little brothers a book before going to sleep.
For me, books are a great way to travel and to know a country… and since living in New York I’ve seen a really interesting thing

Business & Self-Development books.
Guys like Tim Ferriss, Tony Robbins, Robert Kiyosaki, Ryan Holiday and all the gang have their own big space, with a lot of copies and a lot of different topics, with marketing of course being one of the top ones.
In Spain? Not really. Self-Development is getting bigger (although more from the mental health side), but the kings are national authors and novels (mistery, historical, romance, etc.).
From this observation you can guess:
The entrepreneur system here is more advanced. People are more interesting in creating and developing their own business or just get better at work (hola capitalism).
In the U.S., anyone knows the authors I mentioned before, even if they are not in the marketing/entrepreneur sphere. In Spain is more of a niche.
Being an author in the U.S. is a natural step for anyone that has been successful at his business, while in Spain the book space is still more for novelists and writers.
If you are an marketing author in the U.S. and want to publish your books in Spain, you’ll have to do more than just translate the book. Your whole strategy (from picking the audience to market the book) should be very different.

📖 On the book worlds, I’m dealing with 2 at the same time: on the marketing side, The Pumpkin Plan (perfect for this time of the year). The second one is a memoir of the Pullitzer winner William Finnegan.
🥯 Bagels are not really a thing in Spain, but I loved them! Last weekend, I went to Brooklyn and tried one of the best I ever had.
