From the bottom of my heart mind
Fresh stories from a Spanish Copywriter.
Last Monday was a local holiday in Valencia. I woke up, watched an NBA game while having breakfast, and went to the gym.
All normal.
Then I picked up my brother, and we headed to my mum’s place to have lunch together.
We rang the doorbell—nothing happened.
That’s weird, but let’s see.
We called my mum, but had no signal.
That’s weird, but let’s see.
Finally, we shouted a little and managed to get into the house. There was no electricity.
That’s weird, but let’s see.
We asked the neighbors—same situation. No power.
That’s weird, but let’s see.
It was 12:30.
Luckily, my mum has an outdoor barbecue, some wood, and meat in the freezer. So we had lunch. We even grilled a bit more just in case the power didn’t come back by dinner.
I got home around 17:30… and the lights didn’t return until about 23:00.
What I did during that time isn’t all that important (I read A LOT). What matters is what I didn’t do:
I didn’t panic. While some people went wild at supermarkets or in the streets, I trusted that everything would be fine eventually.
I didn’t buy into theories. A cyberattack? A fire in France? Human error? Fake news was everywhere—even without Internet. I ignored the noise and waited until the next day to read trusted sources.
I didn’t stress about work. Sure, I had emails to reply to and tasks to do. But could I actually do anything about it? No. So I let it go.
As for localization? Some brands have posted funny things on social media, but nothing major yet. Honestly, I think that’s the right call—until we know more about what really happened.
Outside the desk
Where the magic really happens.
🧑🍳 Lucky for me, I had the weekend to do laundry and prepare some food in advance for the week, so all worked well.
💬 This is that kind of week where EVERYONE in Spain is talking about the same (last week was the Pope, btw).
📚 Thanks Brandon Sanderson to write infinite books that kept me entretain over the last month. I just started the 3rd one on “Stormlight Archive”
