When to stop
As a copywriter, you can always write more, write better, edit more, edit better...
From the bottom of my heart mind
Fresh stories from a Spanish Copywriter.
If you have been following this newsletter for a while, you’ll know I like to do sports. And I do a lot of sports. I combine CrossFit (4-6 times a week) with running, padel, hiking and, lately, also tennis.
Last Monday my back said “enough”, I went to the physio and I’ll have to be some days with 0 exercise.
I’ve always had back issues, my parents did too. That’s why I started to practise Pilates & Yoga years ago and, honestly, CrossFit is great for me too since I’ve never been that flexible and strong in that part of my body.
Last week I also started out with a new client as a QA copywriter (will share more about it in upcoming weeks), and from there the question:
When to stop
With sports, I tend to listen pretty well to my body. If I don’t feel like running, I might hit the gym. If my body tells me that day doesn’t have what it takes, I’ll just rest or do a bit of mobility exercise at home.
For writing we usually have deadlines… and God Bless Deadlines.
When I started years ago, if I had a month to write a Landing Page, I spent a month.
Then I worked for an agency and we had days (sometimes hours) to write full campaigns, so I did so.
Between that, I learnt my own processes and learnt when to stop. You’ll always think you can find a better word, a better sentence… and you are probably right.
But…
You can also have something near perfection and, because you have time, ruin it.
So when you start a project, evaluate the time, set your unique workflow and don’t overlook at it once is done.
Outside the desk
Where the magic really happens.
🎾 No sports for me this week… at least practising. Last Tuesday I went to watch tennis at the Davis Cup here in Valencia. Australia 2 - France 1
🐻 I finished “The Bear”, the Disney+ TV show everyone is talking about. The 3rd season was disappointing, now’ll have to wait a year for the next one.
👨🍳 I have a kitchen robot since some months ago and I just started using it. Is fast, is easy and it comes with a book full of new recipes. No sport means a bit more of cooking.
Make it global, baby
