From the bottom of my heart mind
Fresh stories from a Spanish Copywriter.
I’m back in Europe, back in Spain, back in… Winter? I live in Valencia and I’m writing this with 22º outside. Not bad.
Let’s go to the topic of the week: some friends, partners and stakeholders you’ll find on your daily work as a localization copywriter. Before I dive into it, can you guess some of them?

…
Think a little more.
…
…
…
Okay, there we go.
1- Designers
If you have been working as a copywriter for a while, you know the deal. You want more words, they want less. You picture one thing, they do the actual picture and usually is not the same.
Jokes aside, collaboration between designers and writers is key to maintain a visual layout over all the languages and adapting the copy to the media.
2- Growth Team
In a perfect world, you get a detailed briefing with specific instructions, you follow it, deliver the task and check the bill.
Reality looks more like a back and forth. As a localization copywriter, you need to have as much information as possible: where your copy is gonna be displayed, how the last ads performed, what green and red flags we are having. And the growth/marketing team should have all these answers for you.
3- Other writers (Copywriters & UX Writers)
My favourite part. Of course you can just isolate yourself, work on your own language and don’t talk with anyone. But how beautiful is when a French colleague has the same spacing problem as you? Or when the German writer is stuck with a creative translation and you can share yours to help her out? What about when you gather together and propose a better workflow?
When all these situations happen, the magic happens. Enhance the team work, don’t be afraid to ask, to share, to talk.
Others
I don’t want to finish this without mentioning the Project/Program/Localization Managers (usually the ones that make sure the briefing, times and tasks arrive on time), the legal department (love-hate relationship, but we get it) or the customer support. Yes, we are always there.
Market-in
Resources to reach your peak level.
💡As a sports fan, I can’t say “no” to a Hall of Fame. Here the Localization Hall of Fame 2023.
Outside the desk
Where the magic really happens.
🎉 Have a casual dinner with friends and, don’t know how or why, end up eating a pizza at 5 AM with a voice actor.
🍗 Oh boy, after 4 months abroad I really missed Spanish food. In just a week I had “bravas”, “morro”, “paella”, “cocido” and many others.
🎥 This Saturday I’m visiting a Pixar exhibition in Valencia. Expecting some inspiration and fun!
Make it global, baby
